Makerspaces

Makerspaces and Tinkerlabs have popped up all over the country. Whether it's called a discovery lab or an exploration zone they have available tools and materials to excite creative spirits. See also Home Education, Group Activities and On The Go for other ideas and information.

Core makerspace items to include in your home centers:

-Blocks of all sorts

-Basic tools like a hammer, screwdriver set, scissors, etc

-Connector materials such as tapes and glues

-Safety gear such as glasses and gloves. Always heed the warnings on tools and materials and use precaution when handling anything hot, sharp or otherwise dangerous.

And of course recycled materials found around the home!
